David Dunnigan is a 30-year veteran of the communications field, having served as a staff reporter for the Dallas Morning News, and a public relations/public affairs executive in corporations, government and agencies.
His communications and marketing skills have been applied in diverse industries including real estate, energy, transportation, construction, technology, hospitality, entertainment, business-to-business, business-to-consumer, education, retailing, medical and pharmaceuticals, professional services, non-profits and more. Additionally, he has served as executive director of several associations and currently is the ED of the Greater Dallas Planning Council.
He specializes in strategic counseling, message development, tactical program creation and implementation, crisis management, media training and special event development.
During his career he has worked with such institutions as Southwest Airlines, Blockbuster Video, DFW International Airport, Texas High Speed Rail, American Electric Power, Atmos Energy, DISD, Cap Gemini Ernest & Young, Eli Lilly, Ringling Bros., Grapevine Mills, NorthPark, Bank of America, Sheraton Hotels, Dr Pepper, Coca-Cola, Nucor Steel, Mary Kay, 3M, Rockettes and many others.
Dunnigan has been active in community affairs, is immediate past president of the Dallas Rotary Club and is on the boards of the Dallas Zoological Society, Central Dallas Community Development Corporation, Dallas Community Television and Perkins School of Theology. Previously he has served as president of the Dallas Business League and Dallas 40 and was on the board of the Better Business Bureau, Dallas Advertising League, YMCAs of Dallas, Leadership Dallas Alumni Association, Greater Dallas Community of Churches, Friends of the Dallas Public Library, Historic Preservation League, Keep Dallas Beautiful, Volunteer Center, Transportation Task Force, City of Dallas Transportation Committee, United Way Training Center, March of Dimes and others. He has served in several capacities at Kessler Park United Methodist Church and has sung in its choir for many years.
Dunnigan, a journalism graduate of the University of North Texas, has been active in the professional field serving as president of the North Texas Chapter and the Southwest District of the Public Relations Society of America, president of the Dallas Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and vice president of the Press Club of Dallas. He has been accredited by PRSA, is a member of its Counselors Academy and was elected to its College of Fellows. He is a former adjunct professor at SMU where he taught PR management.
Dunnigan is a U.S. Army veteran and is married to Carolyn, a former Dallas News writer and editor. The couple has two grown sons and four grandchildren.
