Tori V. Martinez is a public relations professional and writer who specializes in media relations, with broad experience working with the consumer products, high technology, healthcare and energy industries.
Her extensive experience working in traditional media relations is augmented by her knowledge of how to successfully integrate business uses of new media into any public relations strategy. She is also an experienced writer and strategic planner/counselor.
Over the past 15 years, Ms. Martínez has refined her tactical and practical skills in a wide range of public relations and marketing positions. During her career, she has worked for two public relations agencies that each ranked among the top five in the DFW-area during her tenure.
As an Account Supervisor for Springbok Technologies, then Dallas’s second-largest high-tech media relations agency, she provided strategic direction for B2B and B2C clients in a variety of vertical markets, including wireless Internet and broadband wireless. She led one of the agency’s key accounts, Nortel Networks, at a time when that company was rapidly ascending to its zenith. She also worked with small technology start-ups, helping them reach their audience and achieve media recognition in a crowded tech media market.
Prior to joining Springbok, Ms. Martínez had substantial responsibilities at Publicis Dialog, a public relations agency with local and national clients in many fields, including such major consumer brands as Nestle, Toyota, Trojan, Stouffers and Pergo, as well as high-tech brands. While there, she was an Account Executive whose responsibilities included conceptualizing creative public relations campaigns, conducting local and national media relations activities, and managing the creative development and production of projects.
Outside of the agency environment, Ms. Martínez has held public relations and marketing positions in companies ranging from high-tech start-ups to non-profits to nutrition and health products companies. She is also a writer who has served as editor for the Women’s Enterprise family of magazines, and has had articles published both under her own name and as ghost writer for publications like Energy Markets and Constru-Guia al dia, among others.
Throughout her career, Ms. Martínez has developed and executed media relations and marketing campaigns, organized special events and trade shows, written and designed marketing collateral materials, facilitated media training, and conducted strategic account planning. She also frequently serves as a liaison between clients and other vendors, such as photographers, web and graphic designers, printers, translators, etc. For many of her clients, her ability to work with a variety of back-end technologies helps to expand public relations programs into “new media” territory, streamline certain processes, or even reduce dependence on additional tech personnel.
Some of her most recent clients include BT Americas, TXU Energy, The Dallas Independent School District, AT&T, Compaq-HP, and Microsoft.
Ms. Martínez holds a Master of Science degree in applied technology, training, and development from the University of North Texas. She completed her undergraduate degree in Mass Communications with honors at Texas Woman’s University. She serves in an account supervisor role for The Harrell Group.
She lives with her husband, David, a professional translator and interpreter, in Plano, Texas. The couple often collaborates on projects that require Spanish translations of written material.
